Developer Leon Böttger has created a custom firmware that allows any Espressif ESP32 microcontroller to act as a Google Find My Device tag. The project is still experimental and lacks certain features like Fast Pair and MAC rotation but provides standalone tools for tracking. The firmware is available under the GNU General Public License 3 on GitHub.
